Frequently Asked Questions
What can I do about a vehicle that has been abandoned in a public place?
If you see a vehicle that is abandoned please notify the police because we can make enquiries into how the car came to be there. It could, for example, have been stolen. If it is abandoned and the owner can't be traced we will contact the local authority who may place a seven-day notice on the vehicle of their intention to remove it. It is not the responsibility of the Police to remove abandoned vehicles, but we may remove vehicles that have been stolen or used in crime.
