Following the report of a 14 year old female being found at the rear of the Clickimin Leisure Complex under the influence of alcohol and subsequently being detained overnight in hospital Police can report that following enquiries a 14 year old female from Virkie and a 38 year old male for Lerwick have been reported to Childrens Reporter and Procurator Fiscal for offences involving the supply of alcohol to persons under the age of 18.

The females involved in this incident had been in Lerwick whilst their respective schools had been closed for the day. There was a total of seven females, all under the age of 15, found to be in varying states of intoxication after consuming the alcohol purchased in this instance.

This is another example of youths being assisted in procuring alcohol with serious consequences to their health. People are reminded that it is an offence to purchase and supply alcohol for consumption by persons under the age of 18.
