Issued : 5th May 2008

Northern Constabulary are currently recruiting police officers. To help those who may be considering the force as a career option, the force’s recruiting officer, Inspector Willie MacLennan, will be in Shetland this Wednesday, 7 May 2008.

Inspector MacLennan will be at Lerwick Police Station between 4pm and 8pm on Wednesday and will be available to anyone who wishes to come forward for an informal chat about the issues around working as a police officer in Northern Constabulary.

Shetland’s Area Commander, Chief Inspector Malcolm Bell stated :

“Joining the police service provides excellent career prospects and a very competitive salary package. I would be delighted to see more people from Shetland join the force, which would enhance our ability to have local people policing Shetland in future”.

“I encourage anyone who may be thinking of the police as a career to take this opportunity to call along the Police Station in Lerwick on Wednesday to speak to Inspector MacLennan”.

Chief Inspector Bell emphasised that no appointment was necessary and that people should call in when it was convenient to them between the times stated.
