What to do if you are involved in a road traffic accident?
If you are involved in a road traffic collision then the following information will help you to comply with the law. If there are any serious injuries or you are in a vulnerable position due to other traffic, dial 999. Following a road accident you should:-

Stop

Give to any person having reasonable grounds for asking:
Name and address of driver
Name and address of registered owner of the vehicle.
Registration number of the vehicle.

In the case of injury to another person, provide details of insurance cover held.

In damage only accidents the insured must furnish sufficient details of the Insurance cover to any third party who is pursuing a claim against the policy.

Anyone failing to comply with any of these requirements must report the accident to a police officer or at a police station as soon as reasonably possible but in any case within 24 hours of the accident occuring.
