Community Feedback
Local officers regularly attend community council and ward forum meetings. We value views and suggestions as well as information from members of the public.
Since September 2009 the Caithness, Sutherland and East Ross Area Command has been developing a community focused approach to how we deploy our resources to best effect. A concerted effort has been made to attend as many community council and ward forum meetings, where we have been able to listen to local community concerns and issues. Community response initiatives have taken place as a result of these concerns but also supported by statistical research.
During this time there have been just under 2600 police officer generated incidents covering a wide range of subjects, including:
Drugs: 279 incidents where searches were carried out in relation to illegal drug use.
Road Safety issues: 819 – including drink & drug driving, speeding, seatbelts, mobile phones. Over 600 breath tests were carried out
Anti Social Behaviour: 257 – including alcohol seizures from underage drinkers.
Curfew Checks: 113 curfew checks carried out. These orders are a good example of the criminal justice system working together to reduce the anti-social behaviour of a small number of repeat offenders.
Community Response Initiatives will continue to be run over the coming months and we would encourage the communities to raise issues when attending Community Council meetings or Ward Forums or directly to any police officer.
