Crime Trends
As with other, similar communities, Lochaber Command has experienced problems with underage drinking, drugs, vandalism, drink driving, speeding and road traffic accidents.
These incidents are pro-actively dealt with through analysis and use of intelligence. This helps Police target specific offences using a problem-solving approach.
Operations by both patrolling officers and the Northern Safety Camera Partnership concentrate on reducing casualties on the area's roads by targeting speeding drivers. The use of high visibility patrols, especially during national campaigns, are always highly publicised.

Along with regular, concentrated mobile operations for both drug and drink drivers, special emphasis is placed on these crimes during holiday periods. During the summer months we often witness an increase in the number of collisions, due to high volume traffic on the roads.
Lochaber Area Command combats this by operating a vigilant and visible presence on both the A82 and A830. Any incident on either of these main roads can prove serious and problematic, whether this is due to injury or disruption to traffic.
