Policing Plan
Fort William, which supplies a 24 hour cover through a rotation of four teams, is monitored by a fully digital CCTV system. The town also has a successful Pubwatch initiative in operation, which has proved very successful in fighting crime and alcohol-fuelled disturbances.
Kilmallie station covers the villages of Caol, Corpach and Banavie.
Mallaig, Strontian and Glencoe are covered by community-based stations, with Spean Bridge being covered by a Beat Officer.

The Isle of Skye is policed by various stations, with Portree Police Station being the command base. Community based stations include Dunvegan and Broadford, with Kyle of Lochalsh and Strathcarron on the main land.

Lochaber's Wildlife Liaison Officer has engineered support from residents who live in the more remote parts of the Command through Rural Watch. They monitor the environment and report any issues to either to the Liaison Officer or directly to the Command office in Fort William to ensure that the protection of wildlife remains a priority for the people in this scenic part of the Force.
Community Councils within Lochaber are also treated as a direct link between the public and Operational Officers.

School Liaison also provides a positive view of Northern Constabulary and creates a greater understanding of the duties of a Police Officer.
Due to the nature of the area covered by Lochaber, Skye and Lochalsh Area Command, there is a very strong working relationship between both Glencoe and Lochaber Mountain Rescue Teams with the Lochaber section of the command area and between the Skye, Kintail, Glenelg and Torridon Mountain Rescue Teams and the Skye and Lochalsh sections, with each one providing support and assistance during incidents in the hills whether they are involving casualties requiring rescue or the provisions given during missing person enquiries.
The Area Command is fully committed to the Force's main objectives, which are;
- To provide safer roads with reduced deaths, injury and crime
- Sustainable crime reduction
- Effective engagement of criminality
- Public reassurance in community safety
