Policing the Communities of the Highlands and Islands

Crime Trends

The Area Command's overall aim is to reduce the volume of crime whilst continuing to achieve its very high detection rate. Violent crime and sexual offences are investigated robustly, and we aim to make a significant reduction in crimes of dishonesty and vandalism.

This is assisted by our very efficient and effective use of the tactical tasking processes associated with the National Intelligence Model.

Our high visibility pro-active policing allows travelling criminals committing crimes of dishonesty(including housebreaking and drug dealing, who use our roads networks, to be detected and brought to justice for their crimes.

Violent crime and road deaths continue to be a challenge, particularly in the Ross-shire area, and these will continue to be targeted on a multi-agency basis through the identification of local actions linked to Force and national campaigns.
