Charging Policy
We will not charge for access to information available online or if it is sent to you by email, floppy disk or CD.
However, if printed copy is requested, this will be charged at 20 pence per page of copy.
No charge will be levied for the provision of any promotional and advisory leaflets and related material unless they are published for sale, in which case the cover price will be indicated to you.
On receipt of requests where a charge is to be levied, you will be advised of the total charge which will require to be paid prior to delivery of your requested information. This may include postage. The Chief Constable has a discretion not to levy any charge.
Environmental information
Individuals may request environmental information under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004. An application may be made to the Freedom of Information Officer who also considers Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests. The charging regime for EIRs can be found in Section 8 of The Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
Charges for Environmental Information:
Scottish public authorities have discretion to make a reasonable charge for environmental information. Authorities cannot charge if they are providing access to a public register or if the applicant examines available information in situ, for example, at the offices of the Scottish public authority. In those cases, access to the information should be free of charge. When making a charge, whether for information that is actively disseminated or provided on request, that charge will not exceed the cost of providing the information.
