THE detective leading the investigation into the murder of Nairn banker Alistair Wilson has revealed that tests on the internal mechanism of the weapon used have produced no traces of DNA.
DCI Peter MacPhee said he had been in touch with the laboratory and there had been nothing positive to report from the swabs submitted.
He said: I said some weeks ago I was not hopeful of finding anything evidential from the weapon and it appears to have worked out that way.
We will await the final report on these swabs but it’s really as we expected, with nothing positive showing up.
DCI MacPhee added: There is still an awful lot of work to be done in trying to trace the origins of the gun and we are continuing to sift through other leads which still exist.
DCI MacPhee would also like to reiterate the appeal to anyone who may have information regarding the murder of father-of-two Alistair Wilson to contact the Incident Room in Nairn on 01667 459290.
There is also a reward of up to £10,000 being offered by Crimestoppers for information, which leads to the arrest and subsequent court disposal of the case. A national newspaper has also offered a £10,000 reward for similar information.
