Corporate Services
The Corporate Services Unit, based at Force Headquarters, has responsibility for a number of diverse departments, all supplying support to operational Divisions, Area Commands and Service Units.
Headed by Superintendent John Darcy, the objective of the service unit can be summed up in one sentence: "To enable the strategic development of Northern Constabulary through the continued provision of professional services that assist in fulfilling the Force goal by managing interactions with the public and agencies."

There are various sections within the Corporate Services Unit. These are;
- Force Information Management Unit (FIMU)- Carries out daily reviews on Force compliance with the Scottish Crime Recording Standard and co-ordinates and provides essential performance management information to the Force Executive and and Operational Commanders. - Policy and Co-ordination - assists in the development of Force strategy and Force Planning Process, the management of Best Value Reviews and reports, and the development of risk management.
- The Force Operations Centre - the contact point for public interaction with the Force and officers on patrol. This section also deals with all 999 calls for the Force.
- Committee Services/Force Reference Documents – provides a full secretarial service for meetings which support the Force decision-making process, for overall management of the Force Reference Manual system.
- Firearms Licensing Department – responsible for the provision of administrative services and advice to the Force in respect of firearms and shotgun licensing, and explosives certification.
The Service Unit’s priorities have been clearly grouped under the Force’s five strategic priorities, which are;
- Reducing crime
- Tackling serious crime
- Safer roads
- Stronger, safer communities
- Maintaining public order
