Northern Constabulary recognise the importance of having resilience and an investigative capability in relation to serious & protracted criminal enquiries.

This capability is enhanced by the Major Inquiry Team who are based within Crime Services, Police Headquarters, Inverness and support major criminal investigations throughout the Force area.

Officers within the team hold specialist skills in areas such as Crime Scene Management, Investgative Interviewing, CCTV data recovery, Family Liaison & HOLMES.

All officers are experienced detectives who travel throughout the Force area as required

The team also provide training both internally and externally on subjects such as; initial attendance at crime scenes, investigation of sudden deaths, investigative interviewing, and other similar matters.
