Policing the Communities of the Highlands and Islands

Public Order/Search

The force has one full-time Sergeant co-ordinating the training and deployment of both the Public Order and Search teams and is assisted by a number of part-time instructors who are based elsewhere across the force area.

Public Order & CBRN

The force maintains a public order team to meet the requirements in place for supporting national mutual aid callouts.  These officers receive refresher training from in-force instructors throughout the year at various locations and are available to respond to callouts nationally and within the force area to deal with Public Order situations.

A number of these officers are also trained in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) response, again forming part of the national mutual aid requirements.

The force also maintains a number of Public Order Tactical Advisers.

Search

The force maintains a number of licensed search team officers and Police Search Advisers trained in both counter-terrorist search techniques and standard search techniques.

These officers attend refresher training on a number of days every year and are called upon regularly to carry out searches in support of significant events / visits to the force area.

They are also called upon to conduct evidential crime searches.
