Sexual Crime
Sexual crime has a long term devastating affect and we are committed to supporting those who have suffered. We recognise how difficult it can be to report sexual crime and we therefore have specially trained officers, that we call SOLOs (Sexual Offence Liaison Officers) to assist victims of sexual crime to report what has happened. These officers are specially trained and will assist and support you through the investigation process, and will act as a single point of contact for you and will be able to put you in contact with other agencies or services that can help you. Northern Constabulary currently has sixty officers trained in this specialist role stationed across the Force area.
If you have been raped or sexually assaulted:
- You do not have to cope on your own
- There are many support services which can help you. They know how difficult it is for people to come forward
- They will respect you and believe you
- You are not to blame. The person who raped or assaulted you is to blame
Call us on 0845 600 5703 or contact the Rape Crisis Scotland National Helpline on 08088 01 03 02 (daily 6pm-12 midnight).
There is more information available on the Scottish Government website and a number of organisations which can help as well as helplines and websites for advice.
Northern Constabulary’s Victim of Sexual Crime Leaflet details what happens once a report is made to us, and how you will get support and help.
