Policing the Communities of the Highlands and Islands

Policing Plan

This area is a major tourist destination, with the Cairngorm mountain range, water sports, fishing, golf courses and National Parks being enjoyed by a significant number of annual visitors.

The main arterial road linking the South and North to Scotland - the A9 - also runs through the area.

Officers attend at Nairn Harbour

It is the command’s primary aim to do all we can to protect and preserve the high quality of life we all value.

This area command consults with the community to ascertain the best way locally to address the four main objectives of the Force, which are;

  • To provide safer roads with reduced deaths, injury and crime
  • Sustainable crime reduction
  • Effective engagement of criminality
  • Public reassurance in community safety

Whether it is through road safety or combating criminal conduct, anti-social behaviour, or irresponsible actions on the Cairngorms, we will do all we can to make people's time in this area a safe and secure experience.
