Responsibility for legal possession of firearms lies with the Chief Officer of Police.

The Firearms Licensing Department administers this function for Northern Constabulary. They are based at Police Headquarters, Old Perth Road, Inverness. Staff are available between 0830hrs - 1600hrs Monday to Friday to answer any queries in relation to Firearms Licensing.
