Orkney Area Command
Orkney is the second most northern Area Command and consists of a group of inhabited and uninhabited islands. It is famous for its history, wildlife and jewellery.
The community is supported by a successful and established agricultural economy, famous for its cheese and quality beef. Tourism is now a major factor in Orkney’s economy, along with a long established oil industry and the new sustainable, renewable energy. This allows full employment and makes Orkney one of the most sought after areas to work and live.
The island community brings many benefits to policing along with many challenges. The Orkney islands enjoy the reputation of being one of the safest places to live in the UK but there is no complacency in the command's approach to policing.
