UPDATE - MURDER ALISTAIR WILSON - NAIRN

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Nairn banker Alistair Wilson are appealing to a person who contacted Crimestoppers anonymously with
information relating to the inquiry to get back in touch.

The officer leading the inquiry, DCI Peter MacPhee, said he is very interested in the information given by the caller, however, the caller
rang off before finishing their story.

DCI MacPhee said this person should quite easily recognise themselves as the caller through this appeal. If required it can be arranged for them
to speak to the same person at Crimestoppers they spoke to.

DCI MacPhee said: "We received information from Crimestoppers this week about a phonecall made to them with information relating to the murder
inquiry.

"We are very interested in what this person had to say and we would like to speak to them. I feel the person has something more to tell us."

He added: "This person can either contact Crimestoppers again on 0800 555 111 or indeed contact me directly at the Incident Room in
Nairn on 01667 452222.

"I believe this person has information I would like to pursue."

With reference to the man who was seen getting off the bus at Nairn Bus Station, after travelling from Inverness,
this man has now come forward and although we still have to clarify some points it is likely that he may be eliminated from the inquiry.

In addition, the person who was identified through the Crimewatch appeal as being in the general area of Crescent Road and carrying an envelope,
is also likely to be eliminated from inquiries following further investigation.

DCI MacPhee added: "In relation to the weapon found in Seabank Road, forensic examination continues and I am expecting preliminary results
back next week. I will not be releasing details of the weapon for operational reasons."

There are no further details at this time.
