UPDATE ON FATAL SHOOTING NAIRN
OFFICERS investigating the murder of Nairn businessman Alistair Wilson will today sift through a mountain of information gathered since the father of two was shot dead on Sunday night.
Police hope by scrutinising all the information they have gathered to date that they will find that vital clue which could lead to the capture of the killer.
The cordons placed around the area have all been lifted, except for those around Crescent Road, where the house the murder took place is situated in.
Despite claims in some sections of the media today Alistair's wife Veronica Wilson will not be making a public appeal today.
Police are in constant contact with Mrs Wilson and she is keen to assist officers with the inquiry, which may or may not include a public appeal at some stage.
DCI Peter MacPhee, the officer in charge of the investigation, said: "At this stage officers are sifting through a vast amount of information, which could take some time.
"Some of that information, however, could produce that vital clue we are looking for."
Police would also like to thank the public for their continued support and forbearance during the inquiry.
DCI MacPhee added: "We are pleased with the support we have received from the community of Nairn and we would urge anyone who has not yet come forward with information to do so."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Nairn Police Station on 01667 452222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
