Press Release Nairn Murder Appeal 29th November 2004

POLICE in Nairn are presently dealing with a firearms incident in the town following a shooting in the Crescent Road area earlier this evening (Sunday 28 November 2004).

About 1915h a male called at the home of a man in Crescent Road, Nairn. Shots were fired and the assailant made off.

The house holder, a man in his thirties, was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where he later succumbed to his injuries.

An incident room has been set up at Nairn Police Office and armed officers are currently in the vicinity.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter MacPhee who is leading the investigation said this evening, "This is a dreadful incident in a small Highland town. I would appeal to anyone who was out in the town this evening between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and who may have seen the afterdescirbed man to contact the Police at Nairn immediately on 01667 452222."

The man is described as aged 35/40 years, stocky build approx 5'4" in height, wearing a baseball hat and a blouson jacket. He is described as clean shaven.
