UPDATE - NAIRN MURDER - 04.02.05
DCI Peter MacPhee, the officer leading the investigation into the murder of Alistair Wilson has asked members of the media to respect the privacy of those members of the public being asked to attend at Nairn Police Station tonight and tomorrow to volunteer mouth swabs samples for DNA purposes.
DCI MacPhee believes the presence of the media in Nairn may compromise what is an extremely important exercise in relation to the investigation. The inquiry team need as many people (approx 150 contacted) to volunteer DNA samples and fears that some may be put off attending if there is a media presence.
The media are thanked for their co-operation in this matter.
In the meantime DCI MacPhee will have one of the DNA swab kits with him at a media briefing at Force HQ, Old Perth Road in Inverness at 1.30pm today
